Week 9

Baby's now the size of a green olive!
Our little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood. Adding to the excitement, a Doppler ultrasound device might be able to pick up the beating heart. With basic physical structures in place and increasingly distinct facial features, baby is kind of starting to look like...well...a baby!

Average fetus: .9in, .07oz

Week 8

Baby's now the size of a raspberry!

Baby is growing like mad, putting on about a millimeter every day and continuing to straighten out in the trunk. Though you can't feel it yet, baby is moving those little arms, legs, and (now only slightly) webbed fingers and toes like crazy.

Average embryo: .63in, .04oz

First trimester blues... or is that green?

We went back to the doctor on June 20 so that he could be sure that everything was progressing correctly and we had the correct due date.  Looks like the baby is actually due at the end of January, around the 29th or beginning of February... depends on which website or doctor.  The cool thing is that since my mom was here, she got to tag along and see SpaghettiO with the little heart flickering away.

Whatever they say about morning sickness, IT'S NOT TRUE!  Sure it is morning sickness, but depending on the day it can easily be afternoon sickness, or my tried and true friend evening sickness, perhaps even midnight sickness.  While I, thankfully, am not actually getting sick all the time, I would equate it with being motion sick several times a day.  For those of you who don't get motion sickness, think bad hangover.  BUT, I am trying to keep a positive stance on this one and tell myself that feeling icky means lots of hormones means good baby development.

Interestingly, my taste buds have returned to those of my childhood.  I have refound such loves as peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti with meat sauce, and grilled cheese with tomato soup.  All of this lovely French food with its distinctive tastes... no thank you!  Nothing seems to make my tummy turn like milk products, strongly spiced food (with the exception of hot sauce) and any thing sweet.  They say that the food most craved by pregnant women is icecream... not this one!

The Duo becomes a Trio

As some of you already know and others of you are just finding out, our duo is expanding (one of us faster than the other) and becoming a trio at the end of January!  We are so thrilled that the family will soon have a new addition :)

We had our first official appointment on June 7, but as it clearly Elie's child, the docotor couldn't get him/her to stop moving around long enough to get an estimated due date.  The little one did hold still long enough for us to see the heart beat though, so all is well and seems to be on track!  We go back on June 20 to try and get a better view, and a real due date. Hopefully, someone will cooperate this time.

In general I feel decent, just a bit narcoleptic with some nausea and I think my hair is turning blond, well at least I am beginning to act like one.  I must say that I welcome mid-July with open arms in hopes that the first trimester goes smoothly and I start feeling like a normal person again.
